Welcome to the Centre for Skill Development and Employability (SPACE), a beacon of hope and progress within the heart of Thanal Perumathura. Our mission is to provide unwavering support and a nurturing environment for individuals with mental disabilities, specifically those aged between 18 and 30, as they embark on their journey towards personal growth and employment.
At SPACE, our greatest asset is our dedicated and highly qualified team of professionals. We understand that each individual under our care possesses unique talents, potential, and interests. Our staff is trained to recognize and harness these qualities, creating tailored plans that cater to the distinct needs and aspirations of each candidate. We believe that everyone, regardless of their challenges, deserves the opportunity to lead a fulfilling life.
Many of our candidates face varying degrees of mental disabilities, which can present significant barriers to their personal and professional development. Our dedicated team is committed to breaking down these barriers by equipping our candidates with essential life skills. This includes helping them improve their communication abilities, encouraging socialization, fostering problem-solving skills, teaching effective stress management, and providing behavior training. These foundational skills empower our candidates to navigate daily life with confidence and independence.
Beyond life skills, we offer practical training in areas that can enhance employability and independence. Our candidates gain proficiency in computer skills, and we provide training in the production of various products, such as paper bags, floor cleaning liquid, toilet cleaner, dish wash, hand wash, detergent liquid, file making, candle making, and crafting using glass bottles. Our horticulture program cultivates a love for plants and green spaces, fostering a sense of responsibility and nurturing a connection with the environment.
Moreover, we’re dedicated to ensuring that our candidates are not just job seekers but job creators as well. To this end, we offer training to become dialysis assistants and office assistants, preparing them for roles in healthcare and administrative settings.
One of our proudest moments came recently when a group of our candidates participated in one of the largest job fairs for differently-abled individuals, organized by the State Government’s Social Justice Department. Their dedication and hard work shone through, and we are eagerly awaiting the results, confident that they will secure meaningful employment opportunities.
At SPACE, we stand firm in our belief that every individual, regardless of their circumstances, has untapped potential waiting to be discovered. Our commitment to empowerment, inclusivity, and creating brighter tomorrows for all is unwavering. We invite you to join us on this transformative journey, where together, we can make a lasting and positive impact on the lives of those we serve. Together, we can ensure that no one is left behind on the path to personal growth and fulfilling livelihoods.
